Rick, what do you forsee as the long term status of parts availability?  How would you forecast parts availability as we move into the future?  As stuff sells from this site and the local dealers, is it gone forever, or are parts still being produced?  (I know we can use many parts from other mfr's, but I'm just wondering about the TMS supply.)

I ordered a new rudder port and backing plate from the site.  Thanks for the install advice!  Can't wait to get the part as I am currently not on the lake  .

Thanks to this site, I know what the hell I am doing regarding parts.  Hitting large floating logs really sucks! (Can't believe how mangled the rudder port and backing were.  Luckily no damage to hull (at least none that I can see with rudder off). It is almost like the backing plate and brass port are designed to give if you hit something as large as the submerged log that was hit with our boat.  (I didn't do it).  Hopefully all is well once I replace cause the whole family is pissed we can't use the boat!

That stuff is made to give, saves the hull. Make sure it lines up right! On most boats, the rudder is offset from the shaft a bit to be able to remove the drive shaft without removing the rudder. I can remember offhand if my boat is like that, can someone take a look under their boat? Just curious.

You'll have it fixed in no time, back on the water. Make sure it gets a shaft alignment. It is something you can do at home if you are mechanically inclined. You need a cheap micrometer and dial indicator. I found good instructions online, I'll see if I can dig them up.

I've decided to finally solve my "flaming" hub problem - rebuilding the trailer brake and bearing system one step at a time.
