That was me that did the winterize manual for the D drive. Most of it applies to a V drive but there is one Derek put together that shows the extra steps to protect a V drive.
Not sure if I ever documented this but you must drain the cylindrical heat exchanger in the starboard side bilge on a V drive. It is inline with the water cooling hose. THere is a square head plug on the bottom stern end of this device, pull it to drain. I had mine crack after a cold winter. I took it out and JB Welded it back together, been fine for 10 yrs. The guy that looked at it said it looked like a Mercruiser part. I will see if I can find it in the parts section.
