Replaced stereo no sound need advice.
« on: July 02, 2019, 03:31:59 am »
I replace on old stereo with a Pyle Bluetooth. Figure I’ll just play must from my phone. When I did it powered up but no sound from any speakers.  Are the speaker amplified??  Looks like they are pioneer.   I didn’t replace them but not sure if first owner did.  Boat turns 20 this year and still goes great!!

The standard stereo was not amplified, however, many owners did add amplifiers. I'd check your wiring for corrosion at the speakers, and also at the dash loom connector.  My boat had the wiring somewhat cannibalized by a car stereo installer that clearly hadn't done marine installs. All the connectors had corroded. Worst case you'll have to run new wire. It's not too hard in our boats, but you do have to remove the front seat backs to reach the wiring supports.

One other thing worth checking is that the speakers aren't toast. Marine speakers take quite a bit of punishment and don't last forever. You should be able to use a voltmeter set to millivolts to see if any power is making it to the speakers.

Interesting. My boat didn't have an amp.

Are the pioneer stock speakers.   They worked with the old stereo.  He had put in a large sub and an amp for the sub that I had long time disconnected.  I just wanted music nothing waking up the whole lake.
