Derek,
WTF?? you are NOT AUTHORIZED to sell your boat!  :police: Unless you buy another Epic.

Seriously, I think you were member #3 back in 01 when I started this website after getting the Dear John letter from TMS!

Copy that, sensei. Thought about it for a bit then realized this amazing sub-economy we call boats. Frigging amazing how well everything is keeping its value. Sell mine, but everything else, even well used, is still >$30K! What do you think ours are worth?

I made my own. Went to TAP Plastics near where I live and bought a 24"x24" sheet of starboard. Then bought a suction cup device off amazon (West Marine used to have one too) for $8. Out the door, I spent about $60. With the small size of the suction cup device I bought, it can fit on the lowest step of the hull and all the way aft, so it holds STRONG. Definitely makes a difference on my X-22 but still need more ballast or bodies in the boat to really surf well. Our ballast is stock, so we use my huge brothers as the extra ballast.

The suckgate pictured here is not mine but it's exactly what mine looks like. I also followed the spec sheet shown here, for the most part. For my money, this was the way to go. Accomplishes the same thing for a fraction of the price and it's even cooler when you make it yourself, of course! One warning, it doesn't float, so you have to attach it to a coiled lanyard and hook to boat. Hasn't fallen off yet but it will sink if it does.

We use one similar to this one but I don't have a picture. Mine is all black but curved like this. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F303133998427

We are able to surf with no rope with zero ballast. I have not modified the swim platform either.

I might have to pick one up as there is someone locally selling it for $150. Maybe I can talk them down a bit.

It's well worth the money! I would have got it sooner if I saw proof like the results I have. I would have paid more too. I LOVE NOT HAVING TO ADD ANY BALLAST TO SURF.
