Chucked MY MDCC
« on: July 23, 2016, 00:19:00 am »
Spent two days cleaning electrical contacts, running clean ground and power wires to both DECC and MDCC and ultimately concluded that my MDCC is filled with water and has rusted circuit board.

Removed MDCC and hack sawed it apart and chucked in in the trash.  I have the Medallion gauges in case anyone wants to continue to torment themselves.  50$/Gauge.

Feel relieved to be on my way to installing 5 " Faria analog gauges speedo, tach, multi function that I can install and forget.

Put perfect pass in and get two birds stoned at once. A least you will have a speedo. Tach pulse from engine is two pulse per revolution, I think 4 cyl settings would work for a tach. Grey wire

If you don't want to install a perfect pass, the seastar solutions gps gauges are working well in my boat. I'm not 100% sure that they make a 5" gauge.

Let me know how the switch from digital to analog gauges works. That's a project I need to do as well.

I don't think it would be that hard. You would have to make up a harness for the oil, temp, fuel senders, run it up to the dash. They are straight up automotive sending units.

Hello
Epic owners
Update
Gauge replacement

I Connected up my 5 inch Faria Tach, Multimeter, Speedo. Analog gauges.

Very Simple

Use the Wire Harness that was 24 pin going to mdcc, cut off end and use the
pink fuel
Tan Temp
Light Blue oil pressue
Grey Tach
Black Ground
Purple-Volt
You Can use the idiot supply Warning Buzzer for the gauge lights or use source voltage from other lights.

I got all 3 gauges from Great Lakes Skipper less than 350.00. Took 2 hours.

Also replaced my manifold hoses with 3 1/8 not 3.  The 3 was ridiculous getting off, used grinder the side wa
lls and wires.  Very cheap rom GLS get each side cut in 20 inch length.

To see working gauges would be a first for me!

How consistent is your voltage and oil pressure reading? Curious

Can you provide the part numbers for the gauges you used? Pictures too. Thank you.

Hello Gentlemen,

Yes I will post pictures when I get back home
OOT for 10 days or so.

I bought the "Oversize" ie 5" speedos, tach, and multifunction Faria gauges from Great Lakes Skipper.
Most of the Gauges they sell are 4", so there only a limited number of 5" ones available but you can search for them by putting in oversize or 5".

So I used the following Faria instruments

Speedo SEK631A

There are several other color, styles you could also use just go to Great Lakes Skipper online catalog.
