So the stock composite swim deck has a foam core so any place it is cut down is going to have to be re-glassed or reinforced with more composite material. I trimmed the stock black rubber mat to be re-used as well. I cut the deck with a fiberglass blade in a jigsaw. I used strips of carbon with resin to make the new leading edge, I would suggest something easier to work with for most people like Marine-Tex epoxy patch material. After shaped, sealed and sanded I painted it to match and gave it a clear coat finish. I also installed some clear protective tape (rail guard for SUPs) along the whole edge to protect from dings and scratches. I had to make notches for the stock tie down eyelets since the deck was raised, also had the clearance notch it for the stock transom light. I put on stainless D style tie down connectors so that I could attach my trailer ratchet straps straight to the bottom side of swim step too.
Making risers to raise the deck up can be done in a few different ways, I used some stuff I already had at home... best way would be to have them fabricated out of aluminum.. cut/welded/ etc.
Sorry for the quick write up, that is kind of the cliff notes version!
