Ronix Wakesurf Shaper, You guys seen this right?
« on: September 22, 2015, 19:25:33 pm »
So this is looking pretty promising for our boats, I will for sure be trying it out when they are released!  Simple and affordable.  I love my S22's surf wake, but this is going to make it insane hopefully...

$600 for a plastic triangular block and some velcro?! PFFFF! Their markup on that has to be $575 per unit.

I have been keeping track of this on Wakeworld and somebody posted this thread on how to make your own:

Give it a try and let us know how it goes!

Wow now that is cool and is something cheap that would be totally reversible, in the literal AND figurative sense. Less tha 30.00 and performance looks awesome!! I'll bite on this one and try it. Thanks for the heads up!!

Moving the platform, weight on one side and running the boat at an angle, etc have always been show stoppers for me for surfing but this is worth a try!

Wheel chock that is much closer in dimension to what Ronix is doing (looks like 10"x10"x12" wedge) than skateboard ramp (9.5"x12x29")

I bought the Ronix wake shaper a few weeks ago at a local boat show.  Drove down to the lake and installed the velcro strips and now just waiting for spring to test it out.

Well,  I went out yesterday to test the WakeShaper.   Being a novice to the wake surfing world I wish I could explain the wake a little better to you guys.  I will put a link to a video below.  I definitely feel like the wake is more "surfable."  Rampier, steeper, longer, etc...

To Note: There is a million ways to have this system adjusted, mainly the position forward or aft.   The velcro strips you place on the boat are about 2 feet long and the ronix is about a foot.   It enables you to place the ronix more toward the bow or the stern to shape the wake.  Those velco strips are intense.   I struggled getting the ronix to detach my first couple placements.

My very novice knowledge of wake surfing review is that this is by far the easiest way to get a better wake.  For now I know it will allow me to get INTO the surfing sport for you guys that have been doing it for a while - well I am sure you could apply it to your needs as well.   It is costly but avoids any expensive modifications to your boat.

The video.   It was just me and my dog on board, with a full fatsac in the trunk minaly around the 10mph to 11mph range.

Thanks for sharing!

Hope to do some testing with a couple different options as well.  Still snowing here so it will be a few weeks before we brave it:-)

looks awesome

add more weight !

i run a
900# trunk surf side
450# floor surf side
750# front floor bow between the seats

i also add 2 350# on the seats depending on how many people i have
my rub rail on the surf side is just above the water line

can you measure and draw the shape of the ronix wedge and post a pic ?

It does look pretty good for so little weight. I may build one. I like the strong velcro idea and the small box. Seems pretty easy to move from side to side.

I took pictures of the dimensions of the Wakesurf Shaper on Monday and emailed them to Jimbo already but will put a drawing together of the size and shape and upload.  Also taking Jimbo's advice and ordered about 1600lbs of ballast bags to add to the setup.  As far as the velcro goes, I know you can order the same velcro ronix uses on the wake maker site for 30 bucks.
