Seems like every winter I have 1 spark plug that seems to be a little flaky.  seems like it will just miss once in a while the first time I take it out.  I am not patient so I just replace them rather than find out which one because it is not a bad miss.  only sporadic and at higher RPM.  so I have just been replacing all of them every spring.  once I replace them it runs great all summer.  my question is does the EPIC really require iridium plugs?  8 bucks a piece X 8 plugs gets expensive.  would like to use that money to the gas this summer.  I hear some people use cheaper copper.  good/bad idea?

I have always used 2000 Tundra plugs and change them out every year.  They are not iridium and cost a lot less.

On the boats I try to replace each year because there is no O2 sensor, so the plugs will foul from over-fueling.
Yes I use Autolight 3923.

I used the Autolite as recommended by Captain Rick every year and never had a problem. I installed in the fall after removing old plugs and install new ones after fogging cylinders and rolling the engine over by hand prior to putting in the new Autolite plugs.

verrrrry interesting. makes sense. Toyota was going after longevity when a better less robust plug would do fine, swap every year. Well, my boat is running better than it ever has on the latest set of iridium plugs but I will replace every year with cheapie autolites for best performance, less pinging and damage to my unobtanium exhaust manifolds
