Tower Damage - X22
« on: July 13, 2014, 03:52:17 am »
I got caught rushing to put away the boat and should have been paying attention.
As a result I made contact with an overhead beam while my tower was still erect.
The GOOD: it did not damage the mounts on the boat and spider the gel coat.
The BAD: the tower and mount braces are bent and creased. Some welds and fractured and the beautiful white powder coating is ruined.

Noticed a different PN# for the X22 and E22 (nothing available) than the SX22 (tower available).
Anyone with an X22 tower for sale?
Anyone with experience in aluminum welding and know if you can fix this type of thing?
Or know the differences between the two PN# and if the SX22 tower would fit?

Not sure what my options are at this point?

Thanks

Sorry for the bad luck...
If you cannot find one I would try and find a metal fabrication shop.
Even thought it is bent they should still be able to uses as pattern or cut out the bent areas and re splice in some new tubing...

It is not going to be cheap any way you go.....

Could look into an aftermarket tower.

The S22 and SX22 tower will not fit. A really good shop or aftermarket tower will be the way to go.

Spin,
The original manufacturer might still have the jig to build a replacement.
Let me check a source in the next couple of days and get back to you.

You may want to call Seattle Water Sports in Kenmore WA.  I was working with them on my hatch rebuild project and they have all sorts of new/used parts for these boats.

Send me picture of the tower with bad areas. I might have the base available ? The original company is gone and so is the Vdrive tower.
