Sorry.  Thought we were talking about the light over the rear swim platform.

The light not working over the rear swim platform is usually a bulb.  When you replace it double check the rubber gasket.  When the boat has any weight in it the light can get submerged. I use a little silicone sealant when I replace mine because I think the boat surface is actually curved where the gasket meets it.  If I recall it is a tube type bulb, not too hard to find.  They usually go out because people turn them on and forget to turn off....ask me how I know  ;(

Thanks Breakawaydaze.  The bulb looks good.  What is my next option for a fix?

They always are little finiky.. Mine hasnt worked for a couple of years.
I just unscrewed the housing and tried to pull the fixture out. It was very stubborn,
bumped it a couple of times....Wa La.  works now. On the back side in the trunk,
I believe the contacts get bumped, banged and not treated with the care.
Hopfully that helps.

Well, because there is a huge chance of moisture getting in there, I would take some steel wool to the contacts that the bulb snaps into.  It would not hurt to do the same to the ends of the bulb.  I agree you should check inside of the trunk for the wiring and connections, if you use your trunk a lot it can get knocked around...BTW...did you install the stargazer perfect pass?

Also, on the E21 there are small white breaker reset buttons under the switch, make sure you have pushed that in, it may just have to be re-set.

White button was pushed in. How do I reset breaker? Light still not working.  Cleaned contacts and bulb looks good.

Be sure to check backside of light in trunk, and just for fun, test the bulb...

A quick test you can do is to test the connections at the rear of the boat with a voltmeter or 12v test light.. Both can be bought fairly cheaply at an autoparts store.

To test:
1. Turn the switch on
2. put one end on the ground wire and the other end on the positive

If you're getting power at the rear of the boat, then it's either the bulb is burnt out or the contacts are corroded and not making a good connection with the bulb.
