Epic Original Covers - cheap!
« on: July 14, 2008, 19:32:49 pm »
I have three original Epic boat covers from Westland. Pictures available. I'm selling them for my neighbor with the Epic who is slightly eccentric.
1) Red over the tower cover. The tag reads: "Custom Designed for 1999-00 Toyota Epic X22BR covers wakeboard tower includes platform cover and strap kit with Toyota logo #4666 logo red TY301ALR-F" This cover was on the boat less than a week.
2) Blue - Covers wakeboard tower folded down. Never Used! I took this out of the box, it's never been on the boat. The tag reads, "CUSTOM DESIGNED FOR 1999 TOYOTA EPIC X22 BR I/B W/CINCHER' WITH SUPPORT POLE INCLUDED COVERS WAKEBOARD TOWER FOLDED DOWN PLATFORM COVER INCLUDED...#4652 WITH MED BLUE TY301AMB-F"
3)GRAY WITH TOWER UP. TAG READS, "EPIC X22 BR I/B INBOARD WITH TOWER UP SEPARATE SWIM PLATFORM WITH EPIC/TOYOTA LOGO #4607 CHARCOAL TWEED TY501ACH-F" This also was not used much as he had a custom snap cover made instead. Email me or call for details. Great covers, make me an offer.

Wow, what a deal. I have the factory cover from Bitzy's sinker, it fits over my Rankin cover, I put both on in the winter. Super nice covers but you need supports. Teak platform cover is a nice touch.

If you buy one and your boat doesn't have a teak platform, sell the platform cover to a site member that does;)

Thanks, Cyclone. I'm not looking to make a killing on these covers. If anyone wants to make me an offer on one or all three, I want to get them out of the garage. :o

Too bad you don't have one for a 99 Epic21.  Mine is looking pretty rough :(

Funny you should say that. There was actually a 4th cover and I'm now using it on my 21' Malibu. It might fit fine. My local upholstery guy does alterations like that for twenty five bucks.

Would you sell me the swim platform cover?  I have a fiberglass swimdeck that needs covered when it's not in storage.

The gray cover is gone. (Wow,   ::) only one day) I still have the red cover that goes over the tower (my favorite) and the BRAND NEW blue cover that goes over the tower folded down.

Just an FYI. I talked to Westland today and they are no longer a "factory" distributor for Toyota. What that means is that although they still have a pattern for ONE of the Epic covers, patterns such as the one that covers the tower and ones with the Toyota Epic logos are no longer available. The blue cover I have may be the last NEW cover available with the Epic logos.
Thanks to everyone who has contacted me so far. The Epic owners are a great bunch of people to work with.

Another one gone, but another one found! The red cover has been shipped off but I also found another cover. This is a blue (about the same color as this text) Sunbrella snap cover that, like the others, has hardly been used. My neighbor had this custom made by one of the area's best. It covers the length of the boat. Snap covers are nice because they are easy. I believe you can trailer with this custom cover as well. You would, of course, have to install the male side of the snaps on your boat. Thanks again to everyone who has responded.

Hey Blindside, I found an extra Swim Step cover for the Epic. It was a little dirty from sitting outside, so I washed it, but it was not in the sun. It's never been installed on a boat and still has the plastic package that Westland supplies with the two male snaps. It's gray, waterproof material with two snaps and fits like a glove. What do you guys think, is $35 a fair price? Too high, too low?
If you're interested, email me back or how about you send $35 to my email address through Pay Pal and that'll cover the shipping and everything. I'll ship it right away.

So, what do you guys think? Who makes the best covers for the Epic? Westland has been mentioned here and so has Rankin. Are snap covers better or full covers? What do you think is a fair price for a cover? Does anyone have any interesting mods they've done in relation to covers?

I don't have one but I have seen them, I think the best one is the Rankin.  The fit is far better than the original and it fits tight enough that I think you could trailer with it no problem.  I have the original covers, both tower up and tower down and there is no way I would trailer with them, too loose fitting.  Ideally, for me, snap on covers would be the best for both trailering and storing.  You can easily have a custom made Sunbrella fabric snap on bow and cockpit cover made for less than the price of the Rankin.  I would have loved it if my boat came with that.  Problem now is I can't bring myself to drilling all those little holes for the male side of the snap all around the deck surface of my boat.  Just my .02.

I have a Rankin cover and love it, however it is starting to show wear after 8 summers and being outside the whole summer.  But my question is about the platform cover, how does it work?  Id love to pick one up for the winter, yes my baby's in covered storage but the platform looks like crap afterward.  Let me know, could I see a pic?

My neighbor replaced his teak swim step with a composite one. I made him a bench from the old one. Here's a picture of it uncovered and one with the cover on it. It isn't covering the whole step because the brackets I made for the bench are in the way. There's a snap on each corner of the cover. You attach the male end to the swim step (real easy - just a Phillips screw)

Here's a picture of the snap cover for sale - Gray Heron (bird) not included. No, that's not photo-shopped, it really is a huge bird on top of the tower with the boat on top of a boat lift. Does anyone know where I would submit that photo for the home page?

(Some covers are still for sale by the way. 1st $100 or best offer takes the snap cover.)
