Engine Hours
« on: November 27, 2007, 00:10:17 am »
Forum,
The question of the day is:
How many hours have the epics performed for you?
I have a 99' E-22 unfortunately we have only 435 hours.
No problems, except getting to the lake. I would like to hear from a ski school
or Rambling Wreck. Cyclone have you heard of the most yet?

my hours got reset, but the gauge reads close to 400 now.  Is there a tool we can get to see actual hours?  I think mine reset around 300, making it close to 700 hours.

No help here - mine just turned 204 hours. Blame Breakawaydaze - my 1999 E21 only had 65 on it when I bought it from him 2 years ago!

I'm the 2nd owner and only have 160 hours on my 2000, 80 in the last two years.
It looks like the average is 50-100 hours a year.
Given the life span of the engine you have 20 to 40 years of use before you need to rebuild or re-power.
Nice to know routine maintenance is all I face for the next 30 years! ;D

My boat had about 300 when I bought it,  I put on a hardline hour meter on it right away and it is up to 30 now.  So I think about 330.  Runs like 3.30 and hopefully will make it to 3330.  "Oh what a feeling....TOYOTA!"

My 2000 X22 has 725 hours and running strong.
Lesson learned this year: pay more attention to the cooling system. Last summer 100 hours, this summer only 25.

As far as drive train aging goes, probably more of us have better familiarity with cars. So comparatively, Joe Average has a 2000 GS 400. Like the rest of us, he's lucky to average (overall) 40 MPH between City and Hwy driving. Conservatively the public drives 15,000 miles per year. This means Joe will put 375 hours on his GS annually; roughly one solid hour every day of the year. These days getting 150,000 'trouble free' miles out of a Toyota is nothing... which equates to ten years or 3750 hours. Thus, I'm thinking 3000 'Epic' hours will be the norm...

Now if we could just get the same from the upholstery.

Last I remember, about 240-250 hours.  99 E22, we are original owners bought with about 20hrs from demos.

Runs like a champ, hopefully nothing big for a long time.  I am going to change the block drain plugs out because the dealer crossthreaded them and they are a huge PITA to get to seal properly at the beginning of each year.

1999 Epic 22 - 1700 hours, with a new engine aprox 200 hours ago.

Boat is still running well, but older parts are starting to require constant up keep.

Still love the boat!
