troubles today. please help
« on: August 13, 2007, 04:13:05 am »
out skiing all weekend and the oil pressure gauge was fluctuating to almost 0 then back to 40.  i got a couple warning beeps and then it would be fine for a while.  is it the gauge?  wiring?  any ideas would be great.  also i had a temp spike.  was skiing and then 240.   stopped then i dropped back down.  probably weeds but it still stayed above 160 almost 180 and it never really came back down.  i am going to check the impeller but any other ideas?  i will also check the screen.  thanks in advance

The oil pressure warnings are normally associated with the poor power supply to the gauges.  There are 4 or 5 great posts that cover that issue.  Longs story short, you will need to run another power cable to the gauges to remedy this.

The temp spike is something you need to look in to.  I would recommend you also look at your belt drive as well (make sure it isn't slipping etc...  Most of the Epics run between 160 and 180, so if it stays constant anywhere in between I wouldn't be too worried.  If it is fluctuating then you may have a thermostat problem as well.

I'm sure you will get some other good advice, but in the mean time, I would recommend doing a couple searches on the forum.

The old crazy gauge problem rears its ugly head. You should replace your impeller every year or two just for good measure but the problems are related to insufficient voltage to the dash. See the gauge posts
