Changing Prop Rotation
« on: June 15, 2007, 23:54:30 pm »
My 2002 SX has Left Hand prop rotation.  I like to wakesurf on the starboard side but the wake isn't as clean as the port side.

Is there a procedure to switch my boat to RH rotation so I can improve the wake on the starboard side?

If I switch to RH rotation, what are the pro's and con's or issues involved?

Remove the shift cable from the shifter and connect to opposite side,
Then change prop ....See early accuski instructions.

I did it on my E-22. Also went to a four blade. Capt. is right, easy to switch over up on the shifter. Now I can pull next to the dock with out climbing
over the pass. seat.
Good luck!!

LH rotation should give you cleaner starboard side( right side facing forward) wake, at least on my Sx. Why would you want to change your rotation?

If your running the factory 4 blade on your SX, you can switch to an acme 3 blade and clean up the wash atleast 50%. I was VERY suprised how much cleaner my wake is with the acme. Only down falls I can see in switching rotation is the gears have taken a set to a left hand prop and you (could) not saying you will , have some gear lash issues that could have some bad results at some point. Oh yeah there is not as many options for RH props as apposed to LH props. On my old E22 I wanted a wakeboard only prop that acme suggested and they did not offer it in RH rotation.

I've changed to an acme 3 blade #449 and that has improved the wake.

I'll probably leave my SX with a LH rotation.  The next prop has helped!

Why the 449?  I was just getting ready to purchase a new prop for my S22 and from what I can tell the 541 is the 'turbo' prop for these boats.

It has to do with gear ratio according to my conversation with Acme.  My SX has a 1.46 to 1 transmission, hence the reason for the different prop.  Most epics have a 1.21 to 1 ratio as I understand it.
