Kirk,

Yeah, I still have your number.  Glad to hear you are going to come down.  My work cpu isn't letting me check out the new rig, but will look at it when I get home.  Take it easy.  I will pm you my/ktowns numbers if you don't have them anymore.  Peace.

We may make it down for the roundup also.  I have a friend that moved to Austin in January and we would be staying at his house. Wifey is pregnant though so not sure if she will be down for travis wave crashing as she is sick all the time as it is.  I will try to make it though.

Bump!  I wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to make the round up at Lake Travis over the 4th of July.  I know we have three boats confirmed on the lake for 4th to 7th (Westtx, Flyn2001, and myself) with blindside and Kirk on the "possible" list and planning on bunking up in Austin.  Is anyone else able to make it out (even for a day trip)?  I think westtx has offered plenty of camping space at his place.

Westtx - do you mind your place being the meeting spot?  Our house is off the water and Flyn's is a condo.  Hopefully you can give us the low down on the lake and best places to ride etc...  We will be getting there around lunch on the 4th and staying until about lunch on the 7th.

I'm looking forward to 4 days of boarding and seeing all those EPICS.

We have a ton of space, (about 3 acres) and in addition to the house, there is a houseboat/dock with room for several boats to tie up. We have a huge fridge, big bar area, a covered pavilion for evening coctails -- hell we may not ever even hit the lake. "Camping" during the day is fine, but the property owner doesn't allow it overnight. We may have a couple of bunks open in the houseboat (it has an A/C), but its always pretty busy and serves as the boat equipment storage area and day kitchen while we're there. I'll post a map when I'm home this weekend.

As to the lake, its finally full (overfull actually), so there is plenty of room to soak up the 4th of July crowd. The cove we're on is great for skiing and boarding early -- during the day it fills up pretty fast, but there's plenty of room on the main lake and both rivers are now full (Pedernales and Colorado), so we'll be able to find nice water. Hopefully we'll get a few more Epics to show up, and we should have plenty of boats for wannabe Epic Owners to try one out!

Hey y'all, if you want to call the Lago Vista chamber of commerce they might have a list of all the places to rent in Lago. Its always been hella cheap in comparison to Lakeway. Here's there number: (888) 328-5846

Also maybe VRBO.com??? Bar-k as well as Carlos N Charlie's will be having their annual fireworks show around the 4th, but you're not allowed to set off your own (just don't get caught) in city limits.

Wish I still had an Epic!

I can't believe the Texas Epic round-up is only a week away! Here are the boating directions to the place we're renting on Lake Travis. Bee Creek is uplake from Lakeway about 2 miles on the Lakeway side of the Lake. We have a ton of room for all the boats to tie up and lounge around. There are two fridges and several grills, so we'll be happy to "store" everyone's beer.

Chasity,

You are more than welcome to hitch a ride with my family.  Me and Flyn2001 are both bringing our boats and families down, and I am sure that there will be ample opportunity for you to get on the water.  I for one could use the local knowledge, and Flyn is dangerous without supervision.  We aren't getting to the lake until the afternoon of the 4th, but will be there for 3 nights.

Fellas,

When do you guys want to try to meet?  When are folks planning on coming down?  I know three of us will be there for at least the 4th - 7th, but it would be cool to get everyone to day trip the same day/days.  If you think you are going to make it, let us know when you might be getting to the lake and maybe we can plan on everyone meeting at Westtx's place.

Thanks for the offer "to store our beer" haha.  Hey, being a complete newbie to Lake Travis, do you know if the fireworks will be visible from your pad?  Or is the firwork show something people sit on their boats, closer to Carlos N Charlies to watch?  On another note, the place I had rented was sold, so I had to make a last minute decision to find a place that was still available, we ended up having to go w/ a condo, here is the link...

http://www.laketravisvacationcondos.com/

I'm not 100% sure where they are in relationship to westtx, ktown, C n' C or Bar-k for that matter. Hopefully not to far.  Thanks for the info Chasity.  Anyhow, looking forward to seeing everyone.

Looks like you're 5 or 6 miles uplake from us and maybe 10-12 miles from Carlos and Charlies. My guess is the only fireworks show you'll see from our place are the illegal ones. Out on the main body of the lake you will probably be able to see a bunch. We may just idle out and float when it gets dark.

We're getting to the lake on the first and staying through the 8th. We're up for meeting anytime. When we get to the lake, we'll post the mile marker the cove is located off of.

Hey, thanks! I might be out on the water on the 4th, we'll see.

Carlos N Charlies is actually near Lakeway, pretty close to the Dam. That's where the world's roughest water is! The further upriver you go, the smoother it gets. There are plenty of places to board anywhere upriver from Lakeway. Its about 20-30 minutes to Bar-K from CnC.

But, at 4 gallons per hour... ;-)

No way. Flyn2001's condo is right across the lake from my old street. If you click on the website's map Crystal Way, across the lake is my old neighborhood. My highschool sweetheart lived on Mockingbird. Looks like you got the coolest spot on the lake, just about 2 minutes downriver from Bar-K. (You should be able to see their fireworks from the condo).

Looks like I am much farther up the lake.  I'm at least 10 to 15 miles up river from Flyn.  Looks like you guys will have a much easier time getting together.  I'm at 203 Hill Loop Dr. Spicewood, TX.  I thought Spicewood was a small place, but I am definitely a good distance from both of you guys.

Chasity/Westtx, where is the best water?  Will I have any problems finding good spots to ride up river?  Is the water good enough to board from where I am at to the condo?  Any advice on areas to avoid on the lake (rocks, stumps, shallow areas)?

Since I am so far away, I will probably not brave the night trek on the 4th.  I may only make the trek down once or twice.  I am praying for good water and hoping to board at least twice a day.  Wish I was a bit closer to everyone, but still pumped for the trip.

Actually Ktown, you're not THAT far. You're about 5-10 minutes UP river from Bar-k. Spicewood is actually right there on the Pedernales (The Perd). That's where the butter is, and all the locals board there. As for stumps... just stay on whatever side the cliffs are on.

As far as tying up goes... Cow creek is the best place in the world for that. Its halfway between where Ktown's place and Flyn2001's place is.

I know this all sounds complicated, but just think of it as a big river. ;-)

I really, really wish I still had the SX. My ex still has it, and hasn't had a single problem out of it since the first few months we had it. -Hey, at least I got the dog. :-\
