Epic Round-up on Lake Travis -- let's try it again!
« on: May 17, 2007, 04:54:06 am »
Spring rainfalls have filled up Lake Travis, and we've rented a house for the week of July 4th (7/1 - 7/8). The house is on several acres and the property has a huge outdoor bar, a separate pavilion area, and a houseboat/boat dock with plenty of room to tie up a few Epics. It is on a cove a couple of miles uplake from Lakeway and would make a great base-camp for a Texas Epic Round-up. If you're within range of Austin and are interested, let's make it happen!

K-Town,

you think the family (wife/boys) would like to go to Austin for the 4th?  I bet we could find a place to rent!  I was thinking about talking with the fam in san antonio and seeing if they wanted to go as well, even if for just a day.

How bout you Kirk?  You think you guys could make it down?  I think it could be pretty fun!

Does anyone know if you can launch fireworks out there?

I would definitely be in for going to the lake.  C$ - If we go, we will probably take the grandparents as well.  With your hawaiin family and mine, we would need a small mansion (trailer park).  Westtx - where did you rent your house from?  How expensive was it?  I think I may plan a family getaway that week as well.  Seems like a great time for a round-up and a darn good excuse to be on the lake.

Donna Garrison at Austin Lakeside is great. http://www.austinlakeside.com/

Most of the houses are $2,500 for a week and sleep from 8 - 15. We have two families in ours already, but like I said, we have plenty of room for lots more to hang out. Lakeway is pretty close, and they have a hotel and a marina, and there are lots of cottage-type accomodations on the lake.

Flyn - I think I found a place that might accomodate both of our families (including the Hawaiins).  I PM'd you the link, let me know what you think.

I think we can get there Wednesday and Leave Saturday at check-out.  Can anyone other than Westtx make it?  This would be a great opportunity, especially since Westtx has a great place for us to congregate.  I'm definitely in for 3 nights of Epic fun.

The trap door is pretty cool, but its usually piled high with skis, wakeboards, tubes, fishing equipment, etc.

Ok, I'm in...   Just got my rental confirmation from Lake Travis Vacation Rentals.  Not right on the water, but has a boat ramp.

 http://www.laketravisvacationrentals.com/tennisvilliage2.html

I think K-town has his place reserved also.  That is 3 Epics confirmed thus far.

Does anyone know about fireworks?  Is there a fireworks display anywhere on Lake Travis?  Should we get some of our own?  Should be a blast regardless!!

Westtx,  you should PM K-town/myself your contact#, we will send you ours as well.  Kirk, you gonna try to make it or what?  I owe you some beer!!  Take it easy everyone.

I just got confirmation today.  I am booked for Wed thru Sat morning.  We are also staying just off the water, but have a marina in the community for launching the boat as well.  I am also in Spicewood, and although I haven't been on Lake Travis, think we should all be fairly close to each other?  For those that can make it out, Flyn's planning on showing everyone his Hawaiin Front Flip.  It's very unique!

Thats right...but you need goggles to see it because it takes place under water!  K-town on the other hand will get to teach us everything he is learning from his personal wakeboarding lessons in San Antonio.  Peace!

My instructor bailed on me.  He had boat troubles (Nautique) :-[  I guess I will have to keep my rookie status a little longer.

We can tie up 3 boats there no problem, and we're right around the corner from Shades, a nice floating restaurant with lots of summer "scenery." Hopefully we can pull in a couple of other Texas boats for a couple of days. I have a friend in San Angelo with an E21. I'll see if he can get away for a couple of days.

It sounds like Ktown and myself are within walking distance from each others rentals.  We got places in Spicewood.  Not right on the water, but has a ramp.  Personally, I have never been on Lake Travis and don't know where the best places to board/hang-out are at.  I guess I will just go w/ the flow.  See you all there.
