Psullvan3-  I got them - Appericate the effort if took to send them.  I am going to work with my mechanic to get my epic back in the water by the spring.  I am going to see what he says about the cooling system and I might go ahead and order/install one while we are doing all this engine work.   Has anyone heard from those Ireland guys - I don't guess I have heard an update from them in a while on the status of their epic.  I know they got the engine rebuilt but couldn't get the engine to stay running over 5 sec or so.   I am curious as to how that situation turned out.  Hopefully my epic will be running by the SouthEast Epic RoundUP this summer- it would be a great college graduation present.  BTW- any of you high rollers looking for some young talent in your office - shoot me an email - lol.   Anyways, back to topic,  thanks again for the pix.  :)

Brad, just a friendly reminder to post pics of the cooling kit when you get it.  I am ready to provide a list of parts and where to get them for a home brew system but need to verify a couple of items in the kit first.  thanks!

The replacement system is due to arrive on Monday if UPS doesn't misplace this one.

I'll post the pic's when it arrives.

I bought this petcock on ebay, it has a port I would assume is for either shower or closed loop cooling. The book says you can't have both. I will. I will have another heat exchanger for the shower, and pull water from the ballast system input.

Here is the first box - mounting bracket, the rest of the system is still another week before it arrives.

I'm going to try to keep my shower.  Currently, the cold water hose comes off the raw water intake so I'm going to see if I can run the same scenario on the hot water hose (off the exhaust hose coming out of the heat exchanger).

Since I only run the shower when idling, I would think the shower won't draw too much water so the manifolds won't overheat.

Pete, I may need your expert advise when I get into it!

It might not be very hot, but maybe hot enough. Should work, I'd think. Hey it's just plumbing, right?

I got a brand new closed cooling tank off ebay for $80, was a BIN and I hit it fast.  Pictured is the tank on top of the engine.  Note that this tank has an expansion tank integral to it so it must be mounted up high.  I have plenty of room in my project boat for that but you all may not.  I will fab up some brackets to hold it, it will not be over the engine but rather about even with the top of the intake just in front of the engine.

Also notice the aluminum tube inside the thermostat housing.  I need to know the length of this tube as supplied in the kit before I cut it, whenever the kit comes in let me know, thanks.

The system arrived today!

The thermostat tube appears to be 1 7/8 inches long.

The kit also included the composite sections to fashion the aft locker panel.

The heat exchanger is manufactured by Monitor Products, Inc., Hauppauge, NY part #M5278-4156.

I guess this winter project is about to start.

Dang Brad, are you short on pixels or something? :) Seriously, I have the size limit for attachments at 250k because I like big pics. We can do that here:)

Thanks!   On the tubing length, it is probably parallax error in the photo, but please verify that the aluminum tube is 1 7/8" long.  An eighth of an inch makes a difference in whether or not it covers up a hole in the housing.

The piece is just shy of 1 7/8" but longer than 1 13/16".

Let me know if you need anything else.  Now is a good time to ask before I start installing it.

Almost done with the Closed Cooling System install.  I ordered two T reduction connectors (1" to 5/8") from Eldon James Company so I can connect the shower hot water hose to the raw water hoses coming out of the heat exchanger to the exhaust manifolds.  (I'm going to tap into both exhaust hoses to minimize the draw on the system.  In speaking with Monitor Products (heat exchanger manufacturer) about the shower, they indicated that the shower pump draws less than 2 gallons while the raw water for the cooling system probably draws 6 to 8 gallons.  Once the ice melts, I'll test it to see if the manifolds get too hot.

I'll take some pictures and post once I get the last items done.

The kit came with the parts to enclose the system since it requires additional space into the rear trunk.  Now I just need to find some matching carpet.
