fresh water cooling system pics?
« on: January 11, 2007, 06:03:00 am »
Just wanted to see if anyone out there has a fresh water cooling system on a V-drive? If so could you post some pictures? Ive been thinking a little about adding the kit but it doesn't look like there is a lot of room for the heat exchanger on my SX. I've looked at the service bulletin pics, but they don't show how tight of a fit it is.

Thanks
Doug

I'll get one if they are still available, for my new boat. Only for winterizaton purposes, it is 70 deg for no reason all the time in the winter here (I LOVE global warming;) so I want to be able to go out without putting plugs in, etc. Plus, getting a dry suit in the deal.

Here is what Capt Rick noted when I ordered the system.

"You will need to cut out some of the trunk aft to fit heat exchanger and bracket."

Still haven't received the system via UPS.  Once I get it installed, I'll post some pic's.

Please post pics of this kit.  I have started building my own home brew system.  However, since this is being installed in an old Chris Craft boat I have plenty of room for whatever I come up to fit it in, unlike you all that have to fit it into an existing (tight) space.

In particular, I need the length and diameter of the "aluminum sleeve" that is to be installed in the thermostat housing.

For my home brew FWC, I am using the following:

Stant 14077 170 degree THERMOSTAT  $10.88 at Advance Auto Parts
Stant 27286 thermostat gasket seal ring   $1.99  at Advance Auto Parts

For closed cooling, the 170 deg t-stat above should be ideal.  It also physically fits perfectly in the housing.

The "aluminum sleeve" I mentioned above needs to be 1.9" diameter to fit over the thermostat, at least I THINK it fits over the thermostat as best as I can tell from the instructions.  I still would like the inner and outer and length dimensions of it.

Also, please take pictures of the goodies in the kit BEFORE it is intstalled, thanks!

I'll post some pic's when the system arrives.

UPS lost the original order so I'm waiting on the replacement shipment.

Please send pics to rustnrot_at_comcast.net   replace _at_ with @.

Are these pics of an installed system or of a kit that is not yet installed?
