I had mine custom made in Austin over the winter. We decided to go with a lower bimini to provide for more protection when the sun isn't directly overhead. The guy that made it for me used rivets to attach it to the tower, and they aren't holding up real well. I may wind up using some fittings like Hoffy has on his.

Nice.  My bimini should sit about the same place yours does.  I left room above for my tower speakers and room below for my tower mounted mirror.  I'm just hoping everything fits as planned.  I spent a couple hours on measurements and running plastic tape to see where everything would sit.  I am hoping to get mine by the end of the month.

I Got my bimini Friday and put it on today.  It took a little engineering since the instructions were less than stellar (no pictures).  I included a picture for those of you that are still looking for a bimini.  I bought this one from custom covers in Salt Lake (www.sewlong.com).  They were very friendly and had it to me perfectly on time.  This one is the FTT.  I still have the factory gray bimini if anyone is interested.

Looks good. Does it fold up, or will you keep it up all the time?

Cal's got a factory windshield mounted bimini for his X22 that fits with the factory (01) tower. It won't work with his Wetsounds speakers, mebby someone can convince him to sell it?

My old bimini is the factory windsheild mounted bimini, and like Cal, mine doesn't work with my tower speakers.  I'm willing to part with mine, since I'm convinced the new one works.

Shawn,
Sorry, I missed the request for pics.  I will take some pics this week of it folded up.  It actually stores very nicely.  Other than the overly basic installation instructions (no pictures), I am very happy with custom covers.  The bimini is very nice and I like the way it folds and stores as well.

I finally got all my summer pics loaded on my computer, so here is the picture I promised you a couple months ago.  They are a little dark, but you should be able to see how it stores against the back of the tower.  It normally takes about 3-5 minutes to pull the pins, stuff it in the cover, and then attach it to the tower.  I have been extremely happy with this bimini and it is a huge upgrade over the factory bimini.

I have two (2) factory bimini style covers that attach to the actual tower, do not impede any function of the tower and can remain in place even with the tower folded and speaker mounting locations are not affected. They are in perfect shape, red in color with a white "Epic" silkscreened on top, and fit the tower on my X-22 like a champ.  They make no flapping noise, look sharp, and provide the all important shade.  If anyone is interested I can post some pictures.

I also have an aftermarket bimini, red with all stainless hardware, sunbrella fabric, and in perfect shape that I am interested in selling as well.  As above, if anyone is interested I can post/email pictures....just let me know.

Cheers,

MJ

Man there's many a Bimini option out there to make your Epic look sexier. You people have great taste.

Last Winter I decided to add a little more to the factory tower to accommodate a Bimini (and future ski racks). Mine is the custom snap-on, made by the local marine upholstry specialist type. It trailers fine at 70 mph. I landed on this design because I wanted simple: a skin-over-rigid-frame layout, eliminating extra poles, straps and mounting points. I prefer all (the stuff) up out of the way, so I can walk thru my boat without stooping... speakers too, I'm so tired of banging my head on them. The overall size is not huge, but is a good mix between full sun and shade, while keeping the sun out of our eyes.

My boat originally came with a 'trampoline' style Bimini. It has a SS pipe frame, with a canvas tramp. I don't know who made... It's more likely a custom (see pic). It's free to whom ever wants it; shipping is your responsibility. New mounting hardware is required... but shouldn't be difficult to engineer. There's no rips or tears in it, and is reasonably clean. The previous owner left it up all the time, and it trailered fine. I'll take more pics and dimensions if your interested.

WNF-

What color is the trampoline top canvas?  Is it the factory grey?  If so, I would be interested in the canvas part of it, mine has a slight tear and I was considering having it sewn.  Could I get some closer pics of it?  Thanks.

WNF-  I would love the tramp top if you still have it!!!   I don't have a problem paying for shipping and getting my own hardware made.   My Zip is 37166  get an estimate for shipping and I'll send you some cash or a check...  901.603.2536 cell - Hit me up...

The Tramp Frame dimensions are roughly 58 x 56 inches; the tramp is 53 x 51. The top is a very light grey. The belly is white with a black hem. It has been sitting in my shop collecting dust and needs a serious cleaning... but any dirty spots should come out with a good wash or steam cleaning.

Flyn, you made the first request and I'll honor that. But I believe it would be a shame to break this top up where there's a need for the whole thing. What do you think? Should you not mind, I'd like to pursue passing it along to Tenn-i-shoe and let him make full use of it. Tenn, the shipping is going to be rather spendy because of its girth (l x w)... but I'll check into it for you.

BTW there are four holes in the frame used for the previous mounting. These four holes mated with four holes drilled in the tower. I strongly suggest not drilling holes in your tower, but rather use some sort of clamp scheme... I had the four holes filled in my tower.
