No power to Throttle Body

Hello,

I am looking for some help with my 2000 E21 with 490 hours. A couple weeks ago my battery died on the lake and I had to jump it. The boat started and ran fine for 45 minutes then shut off while accelerating. I was able to restart it but it would not stay running. I got a tow back to the dock and have pulled it apart trying to figure out what is going on. We bypassed the kill switch and throttle position. Replaced relays and checked all fuses. The engine will turn over but won’t fire. We have found that there is no power going to the throttle body which is assumed to be why it won’t start but can’t figure out why. We checked all the grounds and they seem to be fine.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like the kill switch circuit or neutral circuit. Did you bypass the neutral switch on the transmission? I'd also try the shop manual it has a test list for a no start condition.

I have gone through all of the potential causes. Doug from Elkhart water sports has been helping me. Bypassed kill switch, bypassed neutral switch, checked ground, every wire harness, fuse, relay. Not sure if it’s something with the computer?

Send the throttlebody, ECU and mass air flow sensor and pay $250.00.+ 35 shipping I will advise what is wrong.

Oof. Could be the computer, particularly if you jumped the boat. I've heard the ECU is super sensitive to that. You can get an inexpensive cable off ebay to get readouts from the computer. PM me if you want better details. You likely need to pull the cover off the ecu box and probe for signals. If all the input signals are good then it probably is the ECU. If that is the case you have two options send it for rebuild or buy one from vintage parts.

I sent the computer into SIA. They looked it over and said it is not repairable. I’m really bummed about this. Do you have any ideas where I could start even looking for a replacement? I believe vintage parts doesn’t have them anymore. Not sure if there’s anywhere else out there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Most cannot test any of these items
