Just bought an epic and need some help!
« on: May 18, 2021, 23:21:37 pm »
Hello, I have an 02 SX22 Epic and I need a little bit of help. The engine oil has water mixed into it. I am trying to figure out what are common issues or common places I should look for water getting into the oil before I assume the worst (cracked block). I replaced the "engine oil cooler" which surprised me was actually for the transmission (since trans fluid came out when I disconnected it) and I haven't started the boat back up yet. I just put fresh oil in it to get all the water out, but I wanted to post first before I waste 6 quarts of oil.

Is there an engine oil cooler on these? What other seals hold water from getting in the oil?

Thank you, I appreciate your time

There is an engine oil cooler. It sits above the oil filter on the engine. I don't think I've ever heard of one failing.

Give me a call Capt Rick 4077014430.

80% frooze block and cracked block.
10 % exhaust manifold let water in cylinder
10%   cooler failed

Remove spark plugs and do compression check, Look at plugs for water. buy a scope and take pictures of cylinder and valves.
look at lower block there is a cap with 2 bolts look to see if its leaking and pushed out. Take the rubber cap of the 2 vertical heater pipes push water in them see if under intake fill with water.
Lucky I have a v-drive ready to trade out. Your boat should have a 1:41 v-drive.
