Aligning S22 V Drive & Shaft
« on: April 20, 2021, 20:14:56 pm »
Hello,

I posted some photos when my shaft packing was leaking and someone had mentioned that my shaft was out of alignment. I looked at the PDF floating around about it but it seemed not super informative.

The PDF says to loosen 4 engine bolts. I count 6?

It is asking for .003 gap where the coupler mounts up up. If I loosen the bolts... I can make it (the coupler) as tight or as loose as I want so I am confused as to what I am really trying to get into spec.

There is little to no room to get a large wrench on the engine mount bolts. Specialty wrenches needed to loosen engine mount bolts to get the shaft aligned properly?

Any other insight here would be awesome.

Thank you.

Tighten up the shaft and let er rip. THere's no way to align within 3 thou in a practical sense. REplace your shaft packing and make sure your bilge pump works. You'll be fine.
