Swim platform mounts a touch sloppy
« on: August 23, 2005, 16:55:23 pm »
Question for you guys:

My swim platform mounts have just a touch of up/down play in them. When the boat's stationary and being bounced around by little waves and surface chop, the platform rocks enough to send a little shudder through the boat. Not as bad a shudder as a catapult hitting the water brakes after pushing a Tomcat off the pointy end, but enough to notice throughout the boat.

Anybody else's share this 'characteristic'?

I have the same type of problem with my E-22, 99, It hasn't been high on the list as of late. We just need to put some thought to it.
Just another note, After being at Table Rock Lake, MO. for a week the black paint on the supports for the swim deck peeled off. We ended up spraying them with black primer etch and they still look great......4 years now.

I too have the same problem Toyfreak. I have not put much thought into fixing it though. Casn't imagine it would be that hard to fix. Let us know if you do and how you did it.

I'll bet you could put a strip of electrical tape on the cylindrical part of the mount that attaches to the boat to take up the slop. It might make the platform bind a bit taking it on and off.

You could also try loosening the mounts on the platform or boat and moving them slightly to make it fit tighter. If it really bothers you, that is!

Mine does this as well, from the day I got it. Makes me feel like something is falling off the boat. If you find a way to fix it let me know, I will put it on my drydock repair list.

If you don't plan on taking it off anytime soon just put a little JB Weld on there ;)

When we picked up the boat, my Dad noticed that TMS was welder-handicapped. He said this because of how the welds looked on the platform brackets, engine mounts and the skit pylone bracket dealio (v-drive). Nasty welds. Also, the black paint on the platform brackets is all worn off for some reason. If I do ever take this deal apart, I'll grind the welds a little and look into gettin the dizzle powder coated.

Related note....actually, time for a new thread...

I've got a cracked swim bracket that I need to replace on my '99 E22 with a teak swim deck.  Thanks to the handy parts list, I see that there are two choices.  Does anyone know what RTM Use Only means?

MHHY00014501 Bracket,SwimPlat,Female&Male,w/Pin,TealUseOnly,Alum,Black   1   18
MHH0010871    Bracket,SwimPlatform,Female&Male,w/Pin,RTMUseOnly,Alum,Black   1   19

My guess wold be RTM is the name for the fiberglass platform ...based on the order of the description and the models each go with:

MHH0011018   SwimPlatform,RTM,'01E22,X22,S22,SX22,White   $690.78   1   14
MHH0011269   SwimPlatform,Teak,E21,NoBrackets,      1   15
MHH0011376   SwimPlatform,Teak,E22,X22,NoBrackets      1   16
MHH0011898   SwimPlatform,RTM,E22,X22,S22,SX22,02MYOnly,Wheat

So, in my last posting where I cut and pasted from the parts list, do you think "teal" is a typo for "teak?"

Has anyone come up with a easy fix for the platform issue?  I agree that something to take up the space in the bracket may work but I'm just wondering if any one has successfully fixed the issue.
