« on: April 19, 2019, 02:39:59 am »
Anyone do this. Ive seen someone use a pipe wrench. Didnt that scratch the crap out of the pylon though?

I removed mine from my 99 E22 at one point when the timing belt was being changed. There are two ubolts that hold the base of the pylon. I fully removed them and then the pylon came out fairly easily. If its super wedged into the hole by the carpet you could use a strap wrench to rotate it out so that you don't scratch it. Worth noting that the pylon is fairly heavy even though it's aluminum.

Im also doing my timing belt/water pump now. I was able to remove the crank shaft pulley by doing the bumpstart method. I tapped on the pulley a few times with a rubber mallot and it came loose. So didnt need to remove the pylon. :) thank you for responding. Bart
