How to pull codes without a scan tool

Thought everyone should have this info.

Please remember if you disconnect the battery or shut off the perko switch all codes will be erased. Run the boat until you have a problem shut it off, turn it to accessory and check for codes. they will flash like old school Toyota 2 digit codes.

If the boat doesn't run just turn it to accessory and check for codes. Even if it wont start or stay running at least try to start it so it can set a code if there is a hard failure. It can detect basic failures during cranking.

The diagnostic connector is under the engine cover. An SST is just a jumper wire.

There is a check engine light on the dash, difficult to see, but its there. Or just listen for the buzzer, there pretty loud, shouldn't miss it unless you unplugged it. Haha.  Listen for the sequence just like you would watch the light.
