Starter blowing a breaker?
« on: July 11, 2017, 23:36:25 pm »
i replaced my motor mounts.  After aligning the engine and putting everything back together, the dash lights come on when I turn the key but the starter won't start and seems to trip a breaker.  The breaker apparently resets after awhile and when I try it again, the same thing happens. Any suggestions/recommendations?

What year is the boat?
Sounds like a dead battery...

It's an Epic 21 (1999).  The is new.  The  mechanic did not know it was a new battery and put it on charge overnight. Still same problem.   Mechanic suspects the starter. But I have read here that the starters are almost bulletproof.  Thanks in advance for any further feedback!  I am stuck without a boat for the moment.  :(

Tell him to bypass perko switch and check the inline fuse. Next to battery switch.
Next send battery positive to the yellow with red tracer on top of transmission.
Also check the starter relay nder plastic cover on engine. check for missing ground cable on back of engine.

Sounds good.  Thank you and I will report back to the board how it goes.
