Interior Speaker Mounting Depth
« on: May 02, 2015, 23:08:05 pm »
Does anyone know the mounting depth for the interior speakers on a V-Drive? I need about 5.5" of depth. I'm pretty sure the rears have ample depth, but I'm not sure about the bow.

Also, what is the factory speaker hole size? I'm pretty sure they should fit any 6.5" speaker - If I'm wrong please let me know!

Unfortunately my boat's still wrapped up and an hour away from me.

I measured this out last year...will see if I still have the measurements. Any 6.5 will fit. I was looking at larger options but then left the OEM alone and got a powered sub and head unit.

If you could find those specs it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I had to open the holes slightly with a sanding drum. I have polk momos which are fairly deep for a 6.5 in my SX. I can pull a front speaker and measure the depth on thurs when I get home.

Okay, thanks for the patience. These are from pics I took last year.

Note at the time I was trying to squeeze bigger coaxes in there to keep from having to install a sub. Now, with a $200 Fosgate powered 12", I'm absolutely fine sticking with 6.5s" Mine are old and need to be replaced due to the grills, but still sound great when bass is filtered. I would like to add a second pair of 6.5s" in the aft cubbies facing aft (OEMs face forward) to fill in the back seat a bit.

Sorry, you'll have to "save target as".

Also note that when I indicated a min depth, it's at the closest point, straight inward from the edge of the current cutout. The line would be perpendicular to the face of the fiberglass.

Thanks for posting those sketches. I had time to pull one of the rears out last weekend and found similar measurements. I estimated the maximum depth at the rears to be about 4". Unfortunately not as deep as I was hoping.

Nothing stopping you from using the interior piece of plastic as a mold and making a fiber glass replacement with mods. I may do it
