Sub enclosure question
« on: March 14, 2013, 20:56:42 pm »
Hi guys i hope someone has the answer to this question since my boat is still in winter storage.  I have looked through the stereo threads, but couldn't find the answer that i'm looking for.  I have an sx22 without a heater and would like to put the sub at the drivers feet behind that kick panel.  Does anyone have rough dimensions of this space?  or just know how big of a box can be fit in this area.  I am buying equipment for my stereo build and want to make sure i have enough space for what ever sub it buy.

Thanks
Ross

I fit a 12" sub quite easily below the drivers dash in my SX... I opted for a sealed enclosure to make box building a bit easier. I built a mock box out of cardboard to test fit before cutting the actual MDF. My boat is also in storage so I can't measure it for you... Not for a couple weeks anyway.

Not sure of the size, but I think Cyclone had a post regarding a sub in the kick. You might also want to check out posts by Shawn/Shaun (not sure of the spelling) as they both have extensive systems.

A 12" Kicker Solobaric or a JL Audio 12W6 require substantially less air volume for a sealed enclosure that the majority of subs. I think they need 0.88cf or 1'-0"x1'-0"x0'-10". You have plenty of room for the install.

Let us know what you wind up going with.
