Free Air Subwoofer in the Driver's footwell?
« on: September 24, 2018, 05:50:15 am »
I'm thinking of putting a 12 inch Kicker freeair in the driver's footwell... next to the TMC cruise control I can't use because the display doesn't work (will be replacing soon) are there any wires behind there I need to concern myself with when drilling and cutting the hole?

If yours is like mine.  4 screws hold the carpet panel in place. The two bottom screws are about 3 inches from the floor and 4-5 inches from the outside edges of the panel.  The other two are about 6-8 inches above the bottom screws.  I've removed the panel dozens of times to access the wiring and/or heater.

Mine is setup the same way. If you dont have a heater in your boat you should be able to use a cell phone camera to shoot video and see the screw blocks to more easily find the screws.

I built a box for a 10” JL w6 and mounted the kick panel board to the face of it. I mounted the heater box to the side of the box. Boat is an SX. I think I had a 12” in my Epic 22 in the same spot, there’s a bit more room in the d drives under the dash. I have to replace my heater core soon, I’ll take pics

I replaced my heater core last winter.  Bought the smaller footprint version.  Works well.

Marine Heater - 230 Unit Only(Sport, Pro, Elite)
230 Elite Unit   1   $249.99 USD

Since one of the output fittings is smaller on the heater core, I had heater core send me a plastic fitting (small to big) so I didn't have to change my vents.

Also updated my hot tube from heater craft (generation 2).
