Can anyone tell me what this is used for?

In this picture right above the decal is a round stem or pole that can be pulled up. It has a chrome top on it and only pops up about an inch or so.  Is that a tie down point or can you tow a skier or anything from that point?  Does not appear to have the strength to be more than a tie down point, but oddly placed in my opinion.

That is the rear towing/mooring cleat. Supposedly you can tow a tube from it, but I personally haven't tried.

Given the drag/weight a tube can have, it does not seem like that point has enough structural support to handle a tube.  I think I will stick to what I am doing now unless someone has indeed used that as a point for towing a tube.  And I mean someone on a tube that weighs ore than 100lbs on the tube.

It's for mooring. I would not use it to tow anything.

Knew I'd seen it referenced as a pop up tow eye somewhere. Found it in the original spec sheet. I don't think I'd use it for towing, but it is great for tying off/hanging wet ski lines/tubes so the water stays out of the boat.

I have pulled tubes from the back.  says it is good for 800 pounds.  hard to say how much force each tuber takes

I've been pulling tubes (up to 3) from that point for years without a problem. Where have you all been pulling tubes from?

I always pull from the pylon. That said we mainly ski. Where is the weight rating posted. Pretty sure I've seen it but don't remember where.

When I bought my E21, the salesman said it was rated at 1800#. I use it to tow tubes/skiers and have had no problems.
