port sede pet cock

In winterizing my 99 E21, I rounded off the 14MM head on the pet cock. Finally removed the petcock and using a pair of vice grips, managed to unscrew the drain plug. Now I need a new drain plug. Does anyone have one or know where to get one?

Unfortunately that is the petcock that isn't available. I tried for months to find a spare. You can probably build one with brass parts from home depot and a car parts store.

I suggest install the plug with teflon tape so it doesn't leak. Then install it with teflon tape. . The draining next year can be from the oil filter hose.

Just my luck. Thanks Capt. Rick. It may actually be easier to get at that connection. I will try it.
By the way, port side not port sede. With these fingers, I'll need an easier way to drain the water jacket.

Have you tried using a file to give it some shape so that a wrench would fit?

Another optiom might be to braze the current drain shut then install a drain from a mercruiser. I always thought that they worked well when I maintained the boat we had with these.
