not sure if i should have them reuphostered or try to find new covers.  i assume other people have done this as mine are ripping at the stitching and need to be redone.  the foam is all in good shape still

Dude it's basically 2021. Parts have been on the shelf for 20+ years. We've had 4, soon to be 4.1 Presidents. The US dollar has lost 45% of it's value since then. The skins are a bargain, and you can put them on yourself. they may have wrinkles but they still match better than an expensive re-do. you really only need to fix cushions usually, backs will clean up, generally. I was able to purchase 7 yards of one of my shades, so I can replace an entire cushion with a matching color if not two-tone. Your shades may be available by yard.

My seats were white and silver, Lightning, they call it. Butt blistering, the silver part. I am replacing with white.

Yours was called Surf. Some colors hold up better than others.

I received my new SX sunpad assembly, I decided to bite the bullet. I think I ordered it last Thurs!!  Thanks Capt Rick!!

It arrived spotless, absolutely perfect, never been out of packaging. The upholstery seams and piping are perfectly uniform, much better than my original. There are holes drilled with internal T nuts for the hinges, and it has the handle strap installed. My old one has been hanging by one semi stripped out screw for years:)

The upholstery is a bargain no matter how you buy it, skins or full cushions. The vinyl seems as durable as when new, which is not great, frankly. My original seats self destructed in about 18 months on my 2000 E22 purchased new. But, considering the cost, time and magnitude of reupholstering an entire boat, you can save a lot, depends what is available.

i am not complaining at all.  i just wanted to make sure i had the right information.  when browsing the parts i need all the cushions replaced for my 99 e21 in sand.  there are 3 skins available and 2 cushions.  i know it will look original i just wanted to make sure that i was looking at the right parts.  i didnt know how hard it was to replace the skins.  i am going with 2 cushions and 3 skins since i cant get all of one or the other.

let me know if you want some details on how to install the skins, I have a bunch of leftover hidawelt to cover staples if you need it, I ordered it from Walmart;). Use 5/16 stainless or Monel staple$$$ and get a staple puller and gloves. I got pretty good after doing five or six cushions;) I was able to save the cambric and do a decent job on cushions, I purposely did not stretch them as tight as factory because the seams will pop through the material as quickly as factory. I will take some pix when the weather warms up.
