cycle the perko switch. if nothing check all connectors on back side of switches and decc. its best to unplug and replug even if
they look secure. do you have a ground at the decc? im assuming your black box is the switch decc? report back

I have the same problem........... Ill see if I can find my thread....
Try unplugging the gray 4 pin plug from one of the switch banks... for a while mine would operate only one set of switches at a time..... then eventually both stopped working......   I did all the ground and power wire mods etc... nothing made a difference.

I have built my own complete replacement system with just relays and switches...... Pictures and instructions to come!

Rick can test everything for $70, tell you whats wrong and sell you replacement parts, but the parts are expensive and limited... so I wanted something I could support my own..... Toyota took something really simple and complicated the crap out if it in the instance.....

well...... I didnt quite make it out this weekend, but I was able to do some bench testing with my new rig!!
basically all I did was build a bank of relays that output the the device (bilge, blower, lights etc)  then built two switch banks with LEDs just like the original switch banks but with actual mechanical switches instead of all the CAN stuff.  replaced the DECC with the relay bank (12 relays), and replace the stock switch bank with my home built one.  Since the relays only use .15amps to energize the coils to hold the relay on, I just used CAT5 network cable to connect the switch banks to the replay banks, plus I have like 100s of them laying around from buying various networking stuff........... simple and self supportable.....

Contrary to what I would have thought, and traditionally seen, the DECC switches via the positive (not negative) and the DECC has a high current capacity.  The output from the DECC to my docking lights was registering 7.5amps so to be on the safe side I used 12v 30amp automotive relays.

I still owe a complete writeup and pictures but that is the "readers digest" version.......

I am having similar problems with my DECC and would like to convert to a switch panel. I understand some of you have already done this. Is there any way someone could post the specifics on what was done so I am not trying to reinvent the wheel? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pictures would be great.

Hey me too! my switches flash like cheap chinese fire hazard christmas tree lights sometimes., when I
turn on the nav lights. My stern light is inop, I will test for shorts. I'll bet a shorted component fries the little PIC microprocessor running the decc. or switch panel. replacing the chip won't fix it because its not programmed. there are compact generic relay output module boards available, , but the switch panel outputs are digitized and sent to the decc via a serial link, can bus, right?

so a duplicate switch panel with latching switches and a relay module board is required. what a pain in the keaster.

Please take pics of your fixes if you can, I'm not throwing money down the drain on a flawed design, I'd rather figure out an elegant replacement. I can program a pic serial link an have momentary switches latch outputs to relays. Its not rocket surgery.

or a raspberry PI, 30$ and it could be a media center too............

Most times a bad 4 or 6 button will correct problem, if there are no shorts. I have a good supply of the switch pads.
I do not have new DECC panels. Only used test units
