2001 S22 500hours- what's it worth
« on: January 13, 2015, 20:32:46 pm »
Looking at purchasing a 2001 S22 with 500 hours.  Boat is in great shape, has tower, etc.  What is it worth?  How is reliability on these boats above 500 hours?  Anything I should pay special attention too?  The part availability scares me somewhat, but not a deal breaker after reading all the threads on it.  Thanks.

bought my 2001 s22 2 years ago with 175 hours for 20 000 american in sacramento and i feel i got a good deal. I'm sure i could get close to 27 000 for it here in bc canada (its near mint)

guys on here have way more hours and are fine , i wouldn't worry about 500 hours

parts are same as ls gs and sc 400 lexus cars for most parts and marine specific parts don't seem to be a big issue other then manifolds but there was a thread about aftermarket options a short while ago and complete engine do come for sale

i personally have no worries as these are great boats and we all help each other out

Try the NADA guide if you haven't. Check fine print; I think there are assumptions as to trailer included or not. I bought my 2000 in Spring 2003 with like 110 hours. No options beyond tower. Probably sold in low $40s, I paid $27K and felt like that was almost generous on my side. Almost 12 years and 500-ish hours later....can't imagine selling for under $20K, but can imagine ending up in low-mid teens if had to fire sale. So hard to imagine upgrading although there are some amazing boats out there.

They suck down amazing amounts of gas too:) I can't imagine laying down a house payment every month for a boat that gets 40-200 hrs of use a year. If I happen to hit the powerball or marry Lady Gaga, I'd go boat shopping:)

If my Epic get's blow'd up, I'll make yard art out of it and go buy a sport nautique or better yet, another Epic at aforementioned fire sale price:)

And I'll start selling parts at unobtanium prices on the site LOL
