VT300I Engine Repair Manual
« on: March 01, 2003, 00:49:22 am »
I got one.  :D The part number in case you'd like to order one is MSV00 00571 It is about 1.5 inches thick and covers serious engine maintenance.

Sounds good.  Is it things like fuel pump replacement, starter, major overhaul kind of stuff.  Are there pictures, etc. like a typical shop manual has?

Does it cover any of the boat systems (electrical, transmission, steering, fuel, etc.)  If not, did your dealer say there is anything out there that covers that stuff?

Since I'll be doing my own maintenance, I'd really like to know who made the various components (since I know pretty much the only thing Toyota is the engine itself), what the part numbers are, where you can get the stuff, etc.

You can order the manual through Atlanta Marine, I will post an encrypted email for Kurt on the How To page, he and his wife Lisa are the owners. They are one of the top five inboard dealers in the country, so they know their stuff, they also know how to treat customers. I spoke to him yesterday about sending him some parts customers via the internet, he said "bring it on!"

As far as content goes, it is a detailed shop manual on the engine only. I will try to get and scan the Hurth transmission manual, and I have seen some electrical drawings for a 1999 model that I can probably get. There is no comprehensive boat manual, but the information is out there, and I will get it. Re-Pete, when you get your boat, you will see a lot (95%) of the same parts that are on every other inboard. It's all top quality stuff that you can buy over the counter. The stuff that is different is the accessories and trim, primarily. Certain things (exhaust manifolds) are unique to these boats.

If you don't mind me asking, what did they charge you for it. Also, what model year is it for?

Pete,
It was the '99 model, which I needed. It cost me $50.Hell a Toyota manual for my truck is about $70.I don't think that was too high for something like that.Who knows,if I ever decide to sell the boat,it might help .Did I say the "S" word?...oops

I also have the '99 book. Did you specifically order a '99 manual? Just curious, I wonder if they produced manuals for the other years. I agree, well worth 50 bucks. I looked at the procedure to replace the timing belt, youch. Three separate timing covers and four cams. At least I can get to it without pulling the engine in my D drive. I'll be well past halfway there (500+ hours) by the end of this season.

74 Deg today. It was 46 this morning, so I'm not in a big hurry to get out on the lake. Yet. I may go out on Sat.

From my hardcore contacts, the lake is 48-55 deg. Too cool for me. It warms up very quickly, last year it was icy one weekend, and toasty the next. Like I said, give it two weeks, then bring it on. I may test it this weekend.
