When I pulled my prop the first time it was stuck and I tightened up the puller and kept hitting it with a hammer, to the point of concern. I noticed I had to sets of directions with my prop puller, one said to not over tighten the puller to snug it up tight and hit it with a hammer, the second set of directions said to not hit it with a hammer.
to learn from my mistake, loosen the nut but don't take it all the way off. The way I got mine off was to tighten the puller up and apply heat to the prop, it came off with a POP! and then proceded to come all the way off and land on the floor. Luckily no damage. Heat is a wonderfull tool :)

Awesome PPT thanks a bunch - Les & Pete, as the nugget formerly know as The Head Librarian of the Epic Archives, please post that to the maintenance folder STAT.   :-*

Sorry I haven't searched, but I'd love to know what exact prop you had on there, and what your WOT rpm and GPS speed were. And then I'd love to know what exact prop you got now and what it's WOT rpm and GPS speed are.

THANKS!!!

Thanks for the feedback!

Prop had Johnson stamped near one of the blades and had OJ on the "ring"  4-Blade 13X13 LH 1 1/8.  Cup was stamped on the ring but did not see the number.  I believe it was 0.08

5400rpm /  40.1mph GPS with the 13x13 on a river, full fuel tank with about 400 pounds perma-ballast.  Gear Ratio is 1.2

New prop is ACME 13x12 model #515 (pretty sure on the model number)... will run same conditions as possible and let ya know!

New ACME felt much better out of the hole and came on plane much faster than old one.  Felt like boat was being pushed up on plane.  On first power up there was a harmonic and slight low amp vibration, but I think that was the cotter pin shifting or engine warming up.  (Cotter pin was the only gehto part of my install)  Sound / vibration did not return

River was rough almost too rough.  I only had two opportunities

42.4mph (GPS) and 5400.... go figure!  Without ballast I was about 150 more rpm at a wakeboard speed of 21.5mph.  And I was about 38-39 mph at 4900rpm and 50-60% throttle.

Hope to check it with ballast labor day weekend.

I tested the throttle cable and it opens the arm on the motor all the way.  I started to check for a bad plug (never done this before) and the high pitched alarms and check engine light came on when I would remove the electronic connector.  After 2 times I stopped.... not even sure what I was looking for anyway and it was hot out there.

Bill at ACME seemed to think this prop would get me to 43mph.  I will never run in that part of the curve.  Had 3k of ballast last weekend an it did fine on the 13x13 prop.  Shame I wasn't able to pull it last weekend at the lake Norris!

Here's a pic of the OJ... no cup dimension listed

http://www.epicmarine.com/epicphotos/albums/userpics/10046/normal_OJ13x13.jpg

Prop also had "Legend" stamped between blades and number "3  01" stamped between blades

Will probable keep the ACME so now I have two good props!  Have 30 days to try the 11.5 ACME.  Will see if there are any suggestions posted and see what Bill @ACME has to say.

Sweet, great info. On river, are those GPS readings an average of both directions? So you gained hole shot and top end and about 150 rpm at wakeboard speed, but the WOT RPM says you're still overpropped in traditional terms. What do you think you're gonna do? I'm not sure you could find a better straight up replacement prop than what you've got there. Approximately same RPMs across - but better down low and up high - nice prop!

Peak speed was same in both direction.  Statistically by standard error of the mean rpm was same.  Average was actually lower with ACME by 25 rpm.  Sorry I have a masters in stats.  Bill @ ACME thinks that lowering the pitch will only gain another 150 on the rpms.

Thinking I'm going to put as much ballast as I can and even put the inlaws in the boat and test it out.  See if my scurf wake / wb wake is any cleaner with a 3 blade

I'm still curious what other folks Vdrives with the 1.2 trans are getting at WOT...  Even when I was out with the the 2 Greg's at Phil Dill (following a visit by the Toyota Engineer) my boat has never been above 5400 rpm and 44mph (Not GPS on that speed)

BTW prop held speed better.  For those that don't know how to check this...  At 3000, 3500, 4000 and 4500 rpms make a gradual but tight turn.   You should be on a reverse course after about 10 seconds.  Watch to see what the rpms do.  At 3,000 the old prop would drop 300 to 400 rpm during the turn.  New prop dropped only 100 or 200 rpms.  3500 to 4000 and above rpms should only drop if you have any issue.  At least this was what the Toyota dude was looking for when I had my issues way back when.
