DIG IT we need more cheap bastards around here that have a digital camera and like fixing stuff:)

Welcome to the site. Both my epics depth finders have quit working, I am going to do the same thing you did to my new boat:)

Go nuts posting pics, start a gallery for your boat in the photo gallery!

The trunk shelf is something I have thought of. You could make one that would ride up and down with your sack. You could even make a ballast gauge work with it.

Wet n Frugal, I loved this post. Brings a smile to my cold face. I have an X22 that lives in Sonora, CA, where I visit it about four times a year from Anchorage, where I live. Thought about bringing the boat here, but the lakes around Sonora are open longer for the things I like to do. I've had the boat since it was new, low hours, only one failure (fuel pump). I'm very interested in the trunk removal mod you wrote about in this post. Have you posted this somewhere else? I'd think this would be a great addition to my boat. Thx for sharing all your efforts with your boat. Very encouraging, very cool. ;D

I have been struggling with my depth finder since day one on my S22.  My transducer is sitting on a 1" high 4" diameter round platform on the hull liner.  It works very erratically.  Sometimes reads fine then flashing a constant # then saying "no signal" on the MDC.  The weird thing is where it is placed in the boat.  It is pretty far up front probably parallel or a little further up that the drivers seat.  It seems as though under throttle that far up in the front the hull has little water contact or at best irregular.  I think I will use your method and try to find a sweet spot significantly further back.  There is at least another 10-12 feet of transducer cable tied up under the dash. (and this a factory installed depth finder).  All that cable bundeled could be half the problem!  I will take pics along the way and post them.  I hope to have as good of luck as you.  By the way Wreck, when we install your depth finder it will go under your throttle like in the pics in this thread.  We have to either build you a console / platform for the gauge or get the Part # and order you one!

Hey Wet-n-frugal,

I hope THAT was not the post you lost and had to re-enter. Holy crap. That is the longest, most detailed post I think i have seen yet.  And I even understood most of it. Kudos and welcome to the site.

I know it's already been said, but nice post.  Welcome.  Flyn may be interested in your display (if he hasn't blown all his money on his speakers).

Wet-N-Frugal,

Could you post a pic of your display?  Is it in nice shape and work good?  Mine tends to have somewhat of a "scratchy" appearance horizontally through all the displays (kind of like a printer that needs to have the heads re-alligned).  Does it have all the associated wires? or do my wires just plug into the back of it? Do you, or anyone for that matter, know if this unit is plug-n-play to other boats?  I'm pretty interested.  Thanks.
