Tabs
« on: September 13, 2007, 19:34:53 pm »
Has anyone tried to install tabs on their boat yet? I ordered a set today and try to get rid of the porpoising also clean the wake up a little bit. The only thing I have to move is the speedometer sender don't really need it with PP. I get them next week and will do it on the weekend

There's lots of discussion about trim tabs, Search for TABS in the forum.

Let us know and take pics!

under way (cruising speed) people in the stern with little head wind. The tabs will also give me wake shaping, and balancing along with easier to plane with ballast  and people. We did it last weekend with a friends boat and totally changed the boat '95 MC v drive. So I figure nothing to lose except a little time and some money.I am confident it will turn out good. I will have pictures when done. They are 12" x 8".

How and where are you going to mount them? I've considered it but there is crap in the way on our boats.

You can go to the negative post on the decc box (black wire) That's where the red/black pair from the battery switch powers and grounds the boat's systems.

DEFINITELY take pics of your tab install, my boat needs them BAD. I'm gonna do the underseat sack up front, but tabs would really help.

Take pics of your wake before you install the tabs and after.

I wonder if a fixed tab behind the prop would be enough. What do you think Psyclone?

It's hard to say. I think it would be more effective there. I haven't seen any wake shaping applications of a tab that wasn't one big one in the center of the transom.

With the tabs flat out it should flatten the wake ,from there depending on the boat you go up or down to get the wake you want ,if that is where you get a ground for PP where did you get power from I'm checking because I pull power from the block underneath the breaker box but when I pull a ground from that, PP is on all the time
