Cracked Rotor on Trailer
« on: June 25, 2007, 13:30:28 pm »
I just had my single axle trailer checked out and had the bearings repacked.  While they were working on it, they found that it had a cracked left rotor.  Eventually this would lead to total failure of the wheel, which would have trashed the boat by dumping it on the interstate.

They showed the crack to me.  It was very small.  I don't think I would have spotted it if I had done the work myself.  They said the wheel would probably have lasted to the lake (60 mi round trip), but anything longer would have been risky.

Just a heads up...

Thanks. Where was the crack? can you take pics, or just describe where it was?

Here's a photo.  The crack is very hard to see in the photo.

In fact, I can't see it in this picture.  The crack runs between the two arrows, however.
