Trailer Refurbish Advice
« on: June 14, 2007, 20:15:14 pm »
I am about to refurbish my trailer.  It will get the typical sandblasting and paint.  I was curious to see what everyone's opinion on poly-roll bunkers was?  It is quite difficult loading and unloading my boat everywhere I go and there are even sliders installed on the carpeted bunks, they don't seem to help much.  I wanted to replace the two 10' bunks with four 5' poly roller bunks.  Then replace the two 8' bunks with four 4' poly roller bunks.  Any ideas or reasons not to do this?

Just back the boat into the water until the boat starts to float. Fire up the engine, warm it up, and have the tow vehicle driver back up slowly while you reverse the boat. Just drive it off. When you put the boat back on the trailer, back the trailer in until all but 3 feet of the bunks are under water. Slowly drive it on until the bow latch clicks and you're done! If the Lexus won't push the boat to the stop, the trailer isn't in deep enough.

I was trying to avoid having to gun the boat to get it on the trailer.  I have no problems with putting the trailer further into the water.  Just noticed that my gelcoat is starting to wear from being forced onto the trailer.  Thought it would be easier and less wearing on the hull.

I have never had to power laod my boat onto the trailer. Back it in till she floats off and to pull her out put the trailer in so that when you crank it in you only have to crank a couple of turns you cant go wrong. I wouldn't spend all that extra money on rollers besides my dad has rollers on his boat and I think it is hard as hell to launch it.

You may want to try this product. I am in my second year with the Bunkaps. I winch my boat on the trailer the last couple of feet.
