It was a great time. Good to be around people that just want to go out and ride. The lake is absolutely beautiful, houseboats were very nice. There were six inboard boats to ride behind, tons of equipment of all types. Like Terry said, the Air Chair is the coolest thing ever, gotta get one. Met a lot of really great people, great trip.
My truck blow'd up on the way home, still waiting for a diagnosis but I think it's terminal! That's OK, I got my moneys worth out of it, time for another cheapo tow vehicle. Alternator voltage regulator failed, causing too high voltage which boiled the battery. I noticed it right away but kept going. I figured I'd have a tough time finding an open auto parts store on Memorial Day. I decided I'd swap in the boat battery if needed and keep going. After two hours, I lose a trailer tire. The newest one, of course. I swap that in 10 minutes, take a look at the smoking battery, notice that the fuel pump sounds funny. Got back in the truck and kept going. After another two hours, the battery explodes. At the same time, gauges blink and stop working, puff of smoke comes out of the dash. Truck is still running. I pull over, look at the debris under the hood, slam it shut and keep going. As I'm getting back on the expressway, the thing shifts kinda weird. Then, as I get up to speed, the transmission grenades. BANG, all kinds of clankin, etc. Luckily, I am in Ga. and right at an exit ramp. I coast up it, there's a gravel lot on the corner with my name on it. Truck is still running:)
I called up my buddy to help with the boat, and AAA to get the truck. I pulled the cover off the boat and turned on the tunes. I remember the six hot Coors Lights in the cooler, and figure that I'm not drivin' anymore today:) All in all, a memorable Memorial Day:)
