I have a 1999 Epic 21. It has 7 gauges which is controlled by the MDC. The MDC and gauges were manufactured by Medallion Instruments. You should have 2 speedos, tach/hour meter, oil pressure, fuel gauge, engine temp and volt meter.
If you start having gauge problems then you can make the change. It will make it easier to diagnose. You can also read the topic "quest for accurate gauges" and that will help you also.

I'm getting ready to fix it for the second time on my new boat. I couldn't access the power lead to my trunk mounted MMDC on my Epic22, so I ran a pair of 8 ga wires from the batt/perko to a strip I mounted under the dash. I then ran a pair of 10 ga. wires to the studs on my digital switchbox (millenium dash) where the original black and black/red 10 ga wires from the batt are terminated. it fixed the problem. The voltage still dropped a bit on the meter under WOT, but not much. The new boat dash goes crazy insane under full throttle or when I have the heater or ballast running. No big whup but I'm tired of making excuses for sorry ass Toyota to people that drive my boat. I, among others, was told this problem "couldn't be fixed" What a pile of crap. Like my seats that fell apart after 150 hours, that problem was blamed on exposure to water and sun. No sheot. I guess i should just ride on cloudy days. Same problem on the new boat, I'll get it done right myself, with stitching, vinyl and seams that will hold up in a marine environment.

Funny, I just had my rear seats resown at 122 hours. Capt. Rick sold me the step for the middle seat, but the boat was loaded when we took it out over Memorial Day, so I kept the middle seat in. So far, the other ones are holding up o.k., but I plan on spending some money every season to keep them looking nice. I'm starting to get worried now, though...the boat, engine, dash, everything has been perfect for the first year. I'm glad you guys are out there when my Epic honeymoon wears off!

Is the "DDU"  the same as the "Digital Switchbox"?

well $300 dollars later she is rebuilt and putting out 110amps.  Turns out the old fanbelt shredded and parts of it ended up in the alternator and messed it up.  It seems to be all good now, we will see if the low voltage gremlin shows up later...Thanks Again
