Hey Dudes,
Many of you may not know, I got a smoking deal on my 2001 S22
($20k brand new in the wrappers) but got a mis-matched
trailer. The trailer I have is a single axle for a '99 Epic, which only came DD. Mine is a 22' V-drive.
I have been able to make the trailer work by extending
the bowstop by 6 inches (welder did it) and stacking the bunks
3 high! This raised the boat above the fenders (they were not
wide enough) and brought the boat forward to add the proper
weight to the tongue. But as you can see from the pics in the
pics section the boat sits hideously high on the trailer. Its difficult to load and with the engine behind the axle, sways
easily above 50mph. I am only driving 1 mile to the boat ramp
and have a dock in my backyard so it was not too horrible.
Anyway, I tried to hook-up with Ameritrail to find out
if they had any leftover trailers for the 22" VD per Rick
Cohn's advice. He thought they might have 1 or two.
It took about two months of harrassing the guy at Ameritrail
but he finally called me to say he had two in the back lot!!!!
We talked briefly about how much.... and he struck a deal with me to trade my current trailer plus $1000 for the tandem V-drive trailer, BRANDNEW!!!!! Holy Crap! That sounds like an exellent deal! I was quoted $4500 by one company and 3500- 4000 by several others!!! And, nobody wanted to take my
heniously modified trailer in trade.
If any of you ever have problems with your Ameratrail trailers,
call Scott at Ameratrial 407-892-1100
It took forever to get him to help me, but I think I made him
feel bad and he gave me a great deal. He did state that he had
another tandem in the back and that he had no use for either
that trailer or the 21" he was taking from me. I'll bet you guys
can get parts and spare parts for real cheap. Get them while they last!!!!!!
Oh! BTW... I'm driving over to Kissimee to pick it up tomorrow!!!!
