Title: Boat registry difficulties
Post by: mjohnsonishere on July 19, 2007, 09:42:25 am
Greetings fellow Toyota Epic aficionados,

I am the proud owner of a 1999 Epic X22, HIN# S0ETC035E999, and yet when I tried to search my boat through the registry (to presumably register us here on the website) It always returns a "boat not found, try again" message.  Now I know what you are thinking...I might have mis-transcribed the number or something....nope...checked both my original paperwork from the original purchase, the title from the DMV, and the hull itself....It's the correct number.  Any ideas?

Additionally, let me say that you have done and continue to do a tremendous service to those of us whom had fallen in love with the Epic from the very beginning....Toyota should really take note of the incredible loyalty and rabid enthusiasts (such as myself) that still get a thrill each time we slip behind the wheel, listen as the speedometer gyros spool up, and bring to life the throaty yet subdued sound that is unmistakably, Toyota Marine.....ahhhhhh.

Nice to meet you.

Cheers,

MJ Johnson

I think the first 0 (zero) is the letter O

Mine's SOETA011E899

Swap that and try it

Yes, replace the zero with the letter O

SOE  = Es - Oh - Eee

That's the Meritec Manufacturer Identification Code..whatever that is...

Wow, we've got 100 boats in there. Only 544 more to go!

No doubt!!

I found out some interesting info via the registry. The numbers don't add up.  I will start a separate post for the stuff I found out.

Tried the O substitution....to no avail.   masonlk...are you from WA State?  Before relocating back to Nor Cal I lived on the east shore of Mason Lake near Olympia WA.  Just wondering...maybe we were neighbors....I had a Ski Supreme back then....before the great enlightenment.

I just punched in your hin# and it worked. Arctic White/Sunfire Red with Fire and Ice Interior? SOETC035E999.
We "discovered" Mason Lake about eight years ago and bought a cabin a couple of years ago. It's on the west side down toward the Simpson Timber employee park. Great lake and neighbors. We love it out there. Leaving work and headed there now.

Is your cabin a brown "chalet" style? Probably located nearly directly across from the rope swing, on "Simpson Cove".  That house was for sale, nice dock setup, landscaped nicely and relatively new if I remember correctly....Only problem I thought was that after about 2:00 PM say goodbye to the sunshine.  I ended up with my place over on East Lake Circle, right next to the private launch ramp and park.  Only bummer was I had my neighbors right on top of me though. Only other pain was the proliferation of PWC (JetSkis) that constantly buzz your dock, your boat underway, towing a skier/boarder etc. I finally gave up (plus the commute to Poulsbo/Bainbridge was killing me) and bought some land on Panther Lake.  I know it is REALLY small, but the water was always clear (no swimmers itch) and no PWC allowed, 95% of the time we were the only boat out there.  I miss the 3rd of July Fireworks on Mason Lake for sure (ask me about the time I inadvertently set off every car alarm all the way around the lake at about 2:30 AM....See that chem degree does have some practical application after all.)

Cheers,

MJ
